Liam McGuire – Lead Instructor / Owner
About me…
I have been teaching first aid through the RAF Air Cadets since 2003, and after founding My Skills Matter in 2015 I have provided training in first aid and safeguarding to numerous organisations. As a qualified teacher and youth leader, I have a lot of experience in safeguarding and having worked as a work-place first-aider since 2004, I have a range of real-life experiences I draw on for the training to keep it as real as possible. I am not a paramedic or doctor, but a long term First Aider at Work, having completed my first qualification in 2001.
I currently work for the Department for Education as a Systems Developer and where I am an office first aider. Away from work, I am Commissioned with the RAF Air Cadets in the rank of Squadron Leader and instruct cadets on many subjects, including first aid, skill at arms and marksmanship.
I am a big believer that first aid skills save lives – and I feel it should be compulsory in schools for children of all ages.
In my spare time I enjoy walking and camping, website design and making the most out of my Cineworld Unlimited Pass.
